Use and Care Guide
Each piece is expertly crafted from medium-fire stoneware and glaze. Traditional techniques with a contemporary aesthetic, creating unique, timeless designs that bring both artistry and function to any space.
Maintenance:
-For maintenance, use a soft natural brush or cloth to gently dust or wipe the surface. -To avoid residue, especially on unglazed ceramic, it is recommended to use a microfiber cloth for optimal results, as materials like paper towels may leave fibers behind
-For more textured pieces compressed air can be used
-Avoid using any cleaning agents as they will remove the lustered finish of the work
Environmental:
-The bottom of the pieces may cause minor scratches. To safeguard surfaces, we recommend applying a small felt pad or sticker
-For heavier pieces, professional installation is recommended to ensure secure and proper mounting.
Restoration:
-Contact your Studio Van den Akker sales representative or consult a ceramic restoration professional.
Glass and Crystal:
Maintenance:
-Glass and crystal can be cleaned by wiping with a soft, damp cloth or glass cleaner with no additives.
-Apply the glass cleaner to a soft cloth rather than directly onto the fixture to avoid overspray that may damage other finishes.
Restoration:
-Light scratches and nicks can often be addressed by a professional glass service.
Raffia
Handling and Maintenance:
-Gentle handling: Be careful when handling raffia fringe to avoid snagging or pulling the strands.
-Prevent tangling: Occasionally, gently brush or run your fingers through the fringe to prevent tangling and maintain its shape.
-Address loose fibers: If you notice any small flyaway fibers, carefully trim them with sharp scissors to prevent further unraveling.
